Experiencing China in Xi’an
During the first semester of this year, thanks to former AIS teacher Meijuan Zhang and her husband Chuanhai Yan, I studied at Xi’an Hi-Tech International School, a local school in Xi’an, China. Xi’an, capital of Sha’anxi Province in the central northern part of China, is the oldest city in China and was the first city in the world to reach a population of a million people!
Support the Spring Benefit Auction to Raise Funds for AIS
Atlanta International School’s Spring Benefit, Passport to Italy, to be held on Saturday, April 12 at AIS, is an annual black-tie gala headed by the Development Office, chaired by Anita Leopold and generously supported by a committee of parent volunteers. Funds are raised at the Spring Benefit through a live and silent auction. All auction items are donated by families and friends of AIS.
Aileen Williams: Looking Back on Two Decades of Service to AIS
I remember well a day in early 1987 when I first met Aileen Williams and her family. It was in the tiny office in the home-made building -- known to AIS old-timers as “the house that Nelson built”-- behind the original schoolhouse at Sardis United Methodist Church, and the Williams family was contemplating a move to Atlanta.

AIS Band Students Involved in Many Honors Events
Several students involved with the Band area of the Music Department have received honors and accolades in recent weeks. Over the weekend of January 17-20, three AIS students, all members of the US Jazz Band and AIS Symphony Orchestra, were selected through nomination and competitive audition to the University of Georgia’s “JanFest,” a high school honor band festival conducted annually on the UGA campus and open to students throughout the southeastern United States.
