AIS Comes Together to Help
In the past weeks, Head of Primary School Dal Sohi presented students with a challenge on what they could do to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Eager to help those in need, a group of fifth grade students planned a lemonade and cookie stand to sell at the Family Picnic and collect funds for the victims.
Their effort was possible thanks to the support they got from the entire AIS community who donated cookies and lemonade for their sale. In his own words, Douglas Branch, one of the Grade 5 organizers, said, "We would like to thank everyone for helping support us. We raised $578.65 which will be sent to the American Red Cross. We hope to save a lot of people in New Orleans."
This proved to be quite a learning experience for those involved in organizing it. Mark Schwade, who planned it, said, "I believe this cookie sale has been a great success. I hope the hurricane victims will benefit greatly from this money." Finally Nicolas Seidler, the third member who coordinated the effort, said, "I think this was a great chance to learn the importance of others and how to be responsible. People might think this all was easy to organize but it was really hard to organize so we could raise money."
One more way in which AIS comes together to help those who really need our help. Thanks! Gracias! Merci! Danke!
